YPD: Man found shot several times identified, heroin recovered in home

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Youngstown Police Department Detectives are investigating a Fourth of July shooting on the city's west side.

Police were called out to the dead end of the 1700 block of Silliman Street just after 10 p.m. on Wednesday night.

A report says officers found a male victim in the kitchen who had been shot several times.

Thursday morning investigators identified the victim as 30-year-old Elijah Johnson.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he is still currently listed as critical condition.

A police report does not identify any suspects. However, detectives say they have reason to believe the suspect shot into the home.

A firearm and a "significant" amount of heroin were found at the scene.

The case has been forwarded to detectives for investigation.
