Teen is suspect in latest Sharon arson

Posted: Updated:
SHARON, Pa. -

A teenager is being charged with the most recent arson investigation in the City of Sharon.

Police Chief Edward Stabile tells 21 News that the boy is suspected of setting fire to a vacant house on Sherman Avenue Tuesday morning.

Fire departments from surrounding communities were called out shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday when a fire broke out on the first floor of the home.

Investigators tell 21 News that while they contained flames tot he first floor, there was a lot of smoke and water damage in the home.

No one was injured.

Cheif Stabile would not reveal the age of the teen suspect but says he will be petitioned for arson to Mercer County Juvenile court.

According to the National Juvenile Defender Center, a petition is the charging document filed in juvenile court by the state.

The petition formally initiates a juvenile proceeding alleging that a juvenile is delinquent and describing the alleged offenses committed by that child.

It is similar to a complaint in an adult court.
