Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: Lakeview Bulldogs

Lakeview Bulldogs | Players: 45 | Offense: 3 | Defense: 5 | Seniors: 12

Lakeview football coach Tom Pavlansky is the dean of Trumbull County coaches.

Now in his 20th season with the Bulldogs, their last losing season was 16 years ago. Coach Pav and the Bulldogs hope to add to their success.

"With a lot of the inexperience that we have coming up now with young guys, our young guys have to know that age isn't a reason for failure, not an excuse for failure. We're going to coach them up as hard as we can," said Coach Pavlansky.

Considered one of the best in-game coaches, Pavlansky and his staff have some work to do and it starts at quarterback, replacing a three year starter.

"We got Noah Olenik, will be a junior for us, did a nice job at receiver. He was our backup quarterback last year as well. Dakota Witt is also working at quarterback as well for us," Pavlansky said.

Once that's settled, the three captains have a lot on their shoulders.

"Tony Crish is a captain for us, Scott Wilcox is also a captain for us, Dakota Witt is a returning leader in tackles for us from last year. Those three guys along with the fellow seniors Ethan Neslack and Andrew Oaks, those guys were going to lean on heavily. We are young in some spots and those guys have to carry us," Pavlansky said.

Things are better on defense, with five of the front eight back.

"Up front, Scott Wilcox and Ethan Eslak, along with a newcomer in Kyle Roberts with Tony Crish and Dakota in background, back end of it a little bit. We think those guys got some experience and success understanding what it takes," said Pavlansky.

Lakeview kicks off the season against Howland on August 24.
