Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: Struthers Wildcats

Posted: Updated:

Struthers Wildcats | Players: 65 | Offensive Starters: 7 | Defensive Starters: 5 | Seniors: 19

The Struthers football program has been to the playoffs the last two years.  They have all the tools to make it three straight years and it starts at quarterback and returner J.D. Hall.

"He doesn't get fazed. I like his attitude and whether it's in school or not, he's just a smart kid," said Wildcats coach Curt Kuntz on his veteran signal caller.

The Cats return six others on offense and five on defense.

"We're going to hang our hats on safeties Tyrese Hawkins and Adrian Brown," said Kuntz. "They'll lead the way and our strength is going to be in the defensive backfield so this will allow us to be a little more aggressive."

Robert Tomko is expected to lead the charge at linebacker.

One new face Kuntz is counting on is Carson Ryan, who's a basketball player but decided on football as well.

"He'll be a big nice target and I think he'll add to the competitiveness," Kuntz said.

For the Wildcats to reach the postseason again Kuntz feels they need to find depth on the defensive front and keep turnovers at a minimum.   "If we do those two things we'll be in every game," he said.

The Wildcats open their season against Liberty.
