Muscle Connection H.S. Football Preview: Crestview Rebels

Posted: Updated:

Crestview Rebels | Players: 43 | Offensive Starters: 6 | Defensive Starters: 6 | Seniors: 16

For the first time in a long time, the Crestview football team is league-less and playing an independent schedule.

They'll play West Branch, Struthers, South Range and Warren JFK. But also newcomers; Cleveland Shaw, Magnolia, W.Va., Kent Roosevelt, Indian Creek and Linsly, W.Va.

"Our 16 seniors have a lot of experience over the years and they're going to have to lead the way," stated veteran coach Paul Cusick who is in his 20th year as a head coach. "If they set the tone and we stay healthy, we have a chance to be pretty good."

Leading the way offensively is running back Andrew Yanssens, who has run for more than 1,000 yards the last two years.  Also returning on that side of the ball is Dominic Perry and Josh Simmons.

"On the outside, we have Dylan Huff, a flanker, and he can get to any ball, and it looks like Stephen Barr will be our quarterback," Cusick said.

The veteran coach who has 150 wins at Crestview has no juniors on the team and 15 sophomores.

'I've never had that before but it gives some underclassmen and chance to step up," said Cusick.

The Rebels have a nine-game schedule and will host Chaney in an exhibition on September 28th.

The Rebels kick off the season at West Branch.
