Police commend K9s, officers in Salem drug crackdown

Posted: Updated:
SALEM, Ohio -

Salem police said they are working to make their community safer and have started a crackdown on drugs, which so far it has been successful.

"We at the Salem Police Department pride ourselves on combating the drug problem in Salem and the surrounding communities," said a post by the Salem Police Department K-9 Facebook page Sunday.

With the assistance of agents and officers assigned to the DEA and Columbiana County Drug Task Force, the K-9 team set out on a joint venture to patrol the communities.

This special detail was hosted and coordinated by Sgt. Ben Dennison of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Lisbon post.

Police commended their K-9 officers Argo and Simon as well as their handlers for doing a great job keeping the area safe and drug-free.

Officers said the hashtags shown on the photos are a play-on-words of "Simon Says" and keeping drugs out of the community.
