Flag dedication for Youngstown bridge

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

You may have noticed that several bridges around the Mahoning Valley now proudly display U.S. flags.

On Thursday, a dedication ceremony was held for flags recently installed on the Wick Avenue bridge in Youngstown.

Taking part in the ceremony were young people from the juvenile justice system who helped put up the flags as part of their community service.

Judge Theresa Dellick hopes the project encourages our youth to volunteer and help the community.

"When they do things for the community they become part of the community, you become a pro-social person, supportive, you are integrated and that's what we want," Judge Dellick said.

During the ceremony, the young people heard YSU President Jim Tressel and Youngstown Mayor Tito Brown talk about pride and dedication.
