WRTA offering free bus rides today

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Western Reserve Transit Authority is inviting the thousands of area residents who ride their buses every day, along with those who have never used the WRTA before, to board any Fixed Route bus free of charge today.

Acting Executive Director Marianne Vaughn said, in a press release,

"Last year's Free 4-All Friday was a tremendous success - we experienced a 50 percent increase in ridership that day. So we know it's an effective way to introduce those who've never used our services before to the many benefits of using WRTA to get to work, medical appointments, visits with friends and family, and more. We also encourage riders to download our free myStop Mobile smartphone app," Vaughn continued, "which allows you to plan your trip, see the exact location of your bus and when it will arrive at your stop, and receive text alerts when it's getting near."

The press release informs that from the very first bus of the morning to the final Niteline run, riders can leave their fare in their pockets and travel on any WRTA Fixed Route bus on Friday, September 14 for free, for as many trips as they want.

Free 4-All Friday applies only to WRTA Fixed Route buses. ADA All-Access and Countywide services are not included in this promotion.
