Uber and Lyft offering free rides to polls

Posted: Updated:

Two of the nation's largest on-demand transportation companies are offering free rides to the polls on Election Day.

According to a news release from Uber, the company is using its technology and resources to help voters get to their polling places.

On Tuesday, November 6, Uber says anyone in the U.S. will be able to quickly find their polling place and book a ride to go vote-with just a few taps on the latest version of the Uber app.

Uber is offering any campaign or organization the use of its existing Uber for Business offering to purchase and distribute promo codes for rides to the polls on Election Day.

Lyft on Election Day

Lyft says it has given away 50% off promo codes to its partners such as Vote.org, Nonprofit Vote, and TurboVote that encourage voter turnout.

According to a news release from Lyft, voters in underserved communities will be provided rides free of cost through nonpartisan, nonprofit partners, including Voto Latino, local Urban League affiliates, and the National Federation of the Blind.
