BEAVER TWP., Ohio -

A head-on crash in Springfield Township ejected one man from his car and closed down a road for nearly three hours Thursday afternoon.

The crash happened around 3:20 p.m. in the area of South Avenue, just north of Calla Road. It involved a minivan and a pick-up truck.

Troopers said the driver of a truck, 54-year-old Randy Egnatz of Campbell, was airlifted to the hospital after he was ejected from the back window of his truck.

According to police, the driver of the minivan, 40-year-old Kimberly Burkey of Columbiana was also taken to St. Elizabeth's hospital with serious injuries.

OSP said that the accident occurred after the minivan went left of center and struck the pick-up truck.

Neither drivers were wearing seatbelts, according to officials.

Egnatz and Burkey's conditions are not known at this time.

Police informed that the crash is still under investigation at this time, and charges are pending.

Traffic was backed up after officials closed South Avenu in the area between Western Reserve and Calla Road.

The road was re-opened around 6 p.m.
