Two Boardman residents report being ripped off by contractors

Posted: Updated:
BOARDMAN, Ohio -

Two Boardman residents reported hiring contractors for home repairs, but according to police, the contractors failed to finish the repairs after they were paid.

On Tuesday afternoon, the first victim told police that he hired a contractor to install a fence on his Afton Avenue property.

The victim alleged that he paid the contractor two payments of $1,866, but after doing so the contractor never returned to complete the work. The victim told police that he has been unsuccessful in trying to contact the contractor.

The second victim reported to police on Tuesday morning that she hired a contractor to repair the roof of her home on Annawan Lane. The victim said that she paid the contractor $2,840; however, the contractor never made plans to finish the job.

The victim told police that when she asked the contractor for a refund, he denied her and stopped responding to her.

Police informed that they are investigating both claims.
