Rt. 224 in Canfield open again after diesel spill

Posted: Updated:
CANFIELD TWP., Ohio -

Route 224 in Canfield was closed as emergency crews worked to clean up a fuel spill.

Investigators on the scene say a 55-gallon drum of diesel gasoline fell off the back of a truck.

Approximately 50 gallons of the fuel leaked onto the roadway and into the parking lot of Livia Calais.

Crews say HazMat officials were called out to help. They laid down sand over the spill and put absorbent pads in a nearby storm drain.

Officials say the truck in the incident drove away from the scene before law enforcement could arrive.
