Eastwood Mall kicks off savings event for local GM workers

NILES, Ohio -

Following General Motors' decision to idle the Lordstown plant in March, the community is coming together to help out the families affected.

The Eastwood Mall is hosting four days of savings for UAW Local 1112 workers, starting Sunday, December 16 through Wednesday, December 19.

Any active member of the union can pick up a "Passport to Savings" by showing their union card at the mall's customer service center.

The pass includes discounts and offers from more than 50 stores and restaurants in the Eastwood Mall Complex.

Sunday, Best Buy offered an exclusive shopping event from 8 to 10 p.m. to show their appreciation of the GM workers who have worked in the area for so many years.

"Sometimes we get lost in the shuffle of being a multi-national organization, and we lose that mom and pop feel," said Nate Bauer, the general manager at Best Buy.

Bauer says that they wanted to show that they're members of the local community by supporting the community.
