YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Christmas classics were sung and played for a good cause- raising thousands for the Second Harvest Foodbank.

The Holiday Concert of Giving at Stambaugh Auditorium was put on to raise money for the food bank. As of the official tally, the mission was a success.

This year's concert raised more than $5,500 dollars toward the campaign.

It also closed out WFMJ's annual Feed Our Valley campaign in supreme and festive fashion.

"People around this area and everywhere around the country actually need food at this time. We feel it's important for two groups like this who rely on donations to survive to give back to the community whenever they can," said Joe Pellegrini, the conductor.

All the proceeds from the event will go to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

The concert has raised thousands and thousands of dollars for Second Harvest since it began eight years ago.
