HBK launching new charity initiative in Youngstown

HBK CPAs & Consultants is launching a new philanthropic initiative in Youngstown.
HBK reports it is launching "HBK Cares" out of appreciation for the firm's growth and prosperity over the last 70 years.

"Community engagement is an important part of our culture and a cornerstone of our corporate responsibility," Christopher M. Allegretti, CPA and CEO/managing principal of HBK, said, "We serve our communities and support charities under the banner of HBK Cares."

The company says HBK Cares looks to meet the needs of the individual communities in which the company has offices.

"The professionals and their staff members take a hands-on approach to giving back locally," Philip L. Wilson, CPA, and COO of HBK said, "We also select charitable causes to support as a firm."

In the past, HBK has partnered with organizations including the Susan G. Komen Foundation, the American Red Cross, and the Salvation Army.

"This is our honor and privilege; we feel it is our responsibility to 'pay it forward' in the cities, townships, and societies we call home," said Patricia A. Kimerer, PWE, the firm's Director of Communications and organizer of the project. "It's the right thing to do."

HBK Cares kicked things off earlier this month in recognition of National Blood Donor Month.

Throughout January, team members have been participating in blood drives, the firm is planning to use internal communications and social media share statistics and encourage team and community members to donate blood.

HBK Cares' Help: Be Kind Day, which will be announced later this year, is going to be a common date on which all HBK offices will collectively support or conduct a community event of their choosing.
