Report: Car dies as three suspects in Home Depot theft flee police

Posted: Updated:
AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -

The luck of the draw wasn't so lucky for three people trying to escape police who were investigating a shoplifting incident at Home Depot in Austintown.

Thirty-year-old Ciera Buckner, thirty-nine-year-old Elijah Taylor, and forty-nine-year-old Ramona Milender-Jordan were booked into the Mahoning County Jail Monday night on several charges.

According to police, a concerned caller told 911 that there were three people, later identified as Buckner, Milender-Jordan, and Taylor loading "numerous boxes of equipment" into a gold Pontiac at the Home Depot on Mahoning Avenue.

A report says the car left the Home Depot but was spotted by officers a short distance away.

Officers say they took off after the vehicle, at which point the vehicle's lights turned off. Police say the car drifted to the side of the road.

When police approached the driver, officers say Milender-Jordan told them that the car had died.

The police report says officers noticed several large Ryobi brand boxes in the car.

Reports say police found Buckner, who was sitting in the passenger seat, had several warrants out for her arrest- including ones from Boardman PD, Columbiana, Campbell, and Southwest Summit Communications.

Police say Buckner admitted that she walked out of the store without paying for the cart full of tools, but told officers that Taylor made her do it.

A report says Taylor told officers he knew the tools were stolen.

At that point, police say they escorted Buckner out of the car. On her seat, they allegedly found a piece of a plastic straw, a blue and pink capsule, and a paper with suspected heroin inside.

Police say she denied that the heroin was hers but later said, "it's only a tenth geez."

Also, police say they found a cigarette pack with a glass pipe inside.

Milender-Jordan then allegedly told officers that she had hidden two glass pipes inside her vagina.

The police report says investigators searched the car and found several Ryobi tools, including a fan blower, a backpack blower, a surface cleaner, a pressure washer, and a string trimmer.

All three were arrested and booked into jail- they are due to appear in court on Wednesday.
