Youngstown St. Pat's weekend has bands, bars, bagpipers

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Youngstown is going green this St. Patrick's Day weekend for party lovers and running enthusiasts.

People from all over the Valley are being welcomed to visit downtown Youngstown on Saturday, March 16 and Sunday, March 17 for the annual St. Patrick's Day festival.

Shamrock the Block 2019 is going to be the area's biggest St. Patrick’s Day celebration featuring 12 Bars, Irish bagpipers, live Irish bands, authentic Irish food, and heated outdoor tents.

The outdoor events on Federal Street start at 2 pm on Saturday, and 11 am Sunday. Admission is just $5.00.

The weekend of live music features The Shoe Shine Boys, Northern Whiskey, Dead Poets, East 9th, Whiskey Pilot, The Labra Brothers, and Hoss & The Juggernauts.

Fun Run & Walk

Sunday also features the inaugural Youngstown St. Paddy’s Day Fun Run & Walk.

The run will start in the heart of downtown Youngstown the morning of St. Patrick’s Day and run through the Northside.

If you would like to participate in this year’s run, you can pick up a pre-registration form at V2 (100 W. Federal Street Youngstown, Ohio 44503) and return the form there as well. Pre-registration forms can also be found and downloaded at the Fast Trac Facebook Page.

You can register the day of the race from 8:00-9:15 am inside V2.

The pre-registration fee for the race is $20 and includes a t-shirt, the fee if you register the same day is $25, which does include a t-shirt if supplies are available in your respective size.

With a race t-shirt, you will receive a voucher for a Fun Run Passport with offers at participating Downtown restaurants and bars.

Strollers are permitted. However, those with strollers will line up towards the back of the starting line for congestion purposes.

Street Closures

In preparation for the weekend, there will be a parking ban at 3 am Friday on Federal Street between Hazel Street and Phelps Street and will continue until 3 am Monday.

Federal Street will be open for vehicular traffic until 5 pm Friday, at which time it will close between Hazel Street and Phelps Street.

Phelps Street between Commerce Street and Federal Street will close at 8 am Saturday until 3 am Monday.
