Warren police investigate shooting near scene of major crash

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio -

As police were still investigating a major traffic crash at Parkman Road and West Market Street, shots rang out just two blocks away and one person is in the hospital.

Shortly before 4 am Friday neighbors living in the area of Parkman Road NW and Ward St. NW reported seeing four men fighting, followed by the sounds of gunfire and then someone screaming.

When police arrived an officer found blood on the street on Parkman Road near the corner of Stiles Street NW.

Police say 30-year-old Kirk Wooding of Stone Mountain, Georgia, drove himself to St. Joseph Hospital. Blood was found on the floor of his car.

Wooding is being treated for injuries that police say are not serious.

According to the police report, Wooding did not know the area or what time it was.

Officers say Wooding ran to his car after hearing shots.

Reports say he did not know he was shot until he got to his car.

Police don't believe the shooting is related to the accident at Parkman and West Market.

The investigation is continuing.
