If you live in the Liberty or Girard area and heard a loud boom Wednesday night, there was an explosion at Vallourec.

Youngstown fire was on the scene at the plant on Route 422 around 8:30 pm after hearing reports that one of the plant's electrical, industrial furnaces blew.

Fire officials told 21 News there was a fire, but it extinguished itself quickly.

They said the explosion happened in a part of the old plant in the Brier Hill section.

The plant was evacuated as a precaution, but no one was injured.

Fire officials said the plant will be open Thursday.

There's no word yet on a cause for the explosion.
