HERMITAGE, Pa. -

There were 15 educators from Mercer and Lawrence County school districts awarded for their leadership and commitment Thursday night.

The awards were handed out to educators who the event's organizers say show up to work tirelessly every day to teach children across the Shenango Valley.

The event was hosted by the Shenango Valley & Lawrence County Chambers of Commerce in partnership with Laurel Technical Institute.

"We hold this to support our educators who tirelessly work to teach our children, and see this as an important way for our region to honor all that effort and commitment," Doug Decker, Executive Director of Laurel Technical Institute and chair of the chamber education committee said, adding that only one educator per school district is chosen and are nominated by the respective school district.
