Mahoning County

The most talked-about political race in Mahoning County was in the city of Youngstown.  In a contest that included political ads critical of his opponent, attorney Martin Hume defeated Youngstown Law Director Jeff Limbian to get the Democratic nod to run as Youngstown Municipal Judge.

Hume will face Republican Renee DiSalvo and Independent Mark Hanni in the November election.

In Struthers,  Catherine Cercone Miller handily defeated Michael Patrick in the Democratic race for mayor.

Trumbull County

Perhaps the hottest race in Trumbull County was the contest between two Democrats seeking the post of Warren Law Director.  Enzo Cantalamessa defeated long-time incumbent Gregory Hicks 55% to 45%.

Incumbent Niles Mayor, Democrat Steven Mientkiewicz got more than two-thirds of the vote in a contest against Jimmy DePasquale.

Benjamin Kyle won the mayor's race in Hubbard. He is unopposed this fall.

The NewtonFalls mayor's race is too close to call. Richard Monteville received 305 votes, Kenneth Kline garnered 302 votes.  Werner Lange came in third with only 108 votes.
