Mention good homemade pizza and the Elmton is always on the list.  The family-owned and operated restaurant has been a fixture in Struthers since the 1940's. But now, for the first time it's cutting back it's lunch hours until it can find reliable workers.

"Seventy four years we've been in business and never believed it would get down to this," owner Jack Walters said

Walters says he and other staffers have been working 12 hour days and something had to give.

"It's hard on us, I mean we didn't want to do it, we're scared about it, we have a lot of loyal customers coming in but at this point we really don't have any options,"

The positions offer above minimum wage, paid vacation and a Christmas bonus but still go wanting.

"Anymore the work ethic in this country is not the same, you tell them 40 hours and they cringe," Walters said.

Walters says he's hearing from other restaurant owners with the same problem.  "If you go around town and look you'll see signs, help wanted waitresses and  cooks,"
The Elmton hopes the cut in lunch hours will only be temporary, but for now they won't open until 3:00 pm.
