Police nabbed two suspects at the Austintown Dunkin' Donuts after they say they tried to use a fake $20.

Police arrested Chloe Adaline Rath, 21, and Marcus Gregory Peffer, 26, after officials were called to the Dunkin' on North Canfield Niles Road on Tuesday around 10 a.m.

The suspects told police they were recovering addicts and help counsel other addicts in the area, so they may have gotten it from one of them, according to a police report.

Officers say there has been an increase in counterfeit currency in the area in recent weeks and asked if the suspects had any more in their car.

According to the report, Peffer pulled out another fake $20 and the search of the car turned up a plastic baggie with a white powder substance inside, which police say tested positive for crystal methamphetamine.

Police also found two tightly rolled up pieces of paper, which they say is commonly used for taking drugs, inside a makeup bag.

The suspects told police they did not own the car.

Rath also had an active warrant out of Campbell for failure to appear.

She faces charges including possession of drugs, illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia and an outstanding warrant from Campbell.

Peffer faces possession of drugs/drug abuse and counterfeiting charge.
