Youngstown fire officials battle vacant structure fire

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

The Youngstown Fire Department fought a vacant house fire that was called in around 8 pm on Friday evening. 

The fire is at the corner of Wilson Avenue and South Pearl Street. 

Witnesses tell 21 News that smoke from the fire can be seen from Poland. 

According to the officials on the scene, the fire department is going to maintain the fire and allow the structure to burn since it is vacant.

    Nearly 500 people woke up without power in Youngstown Saturday morning.  As of 10:00 a.m. there were 497 customers without power.  The outage is expected to be restored by 12:00 p.m. FirstEnergy has not released a cause for the outage.  Stay connected with this developing story on WFMJ.com and on the 21 News app. More >>
