5th Avenue corridor undergoing first phase of the project

Posted: Updated:
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

A $1.5 million renovation project is currently underway on 5th Avenue in Youngstown.

The first step of the rebuilding process starts with replacing 100-year-old water lines, from Federal Street to the Madison Avenue Expressway. Construction crews are replacing 3,300 feet of water lines.

The cost of the renovation project is expected to cost about $1.5 million.

The road will not close for the water line replacement, but there will be lane restrictions as the renovation project proceeds.

Water line replacement will take about three months to complete.

According to officials, this is the first step of a process that could take about three-and-a-half to five years to complete.
