South Pyamatuning appoints new police chief

Posted: Updated:

A new police chief has been appointed to South Pymatuning Police Department four months after the department was shut down following allegations of missing radios, machine guns, and improper practices.

Township supervisors unanimously voted in former Brookfield Resident Paul Ferm. He's now tasked with rebuilding the department from the ground up.

Ferm retired from the Coral Springs Police Department in Florida and has more than four decades of experience in police work. He is now in the process of securing equipment and hiring officers.

Ferm hopes to have the department up and running by early July.
