Two confirmed EF-1 tornadoes moved through Trumbull County

The Trumbull County Emergency Management Agency has announced that two tornadoes touched down in Trumbull County on Sunday.

According to the EMA, one tornado moved through Southington at an estimated 100 miles per hour, and another tornado moved through Brookfield at an estimated 95 miles per hour. 

According to the National Weather Service, the Southington tornado traveled 13.41 miles, and the NWS  is reporting that there were no fatalities and no injuries reported. 

The NWS surveyors were in Trumbull County on Monday after inspected damage in Cuyahoga County.

Both Trumbull County tornados have been ruled as an EF1, which means that it was a weaker tornado.

Shortly before noon Monday, the NWS team determined that the tornado touched down along the Mahoning-Portage County line in Southington near route 534.  

The tornado briefly tracked northeast before turning to the east-southeast before causing damage about a mile south of Southington. The NWS says that the tornado had an intermittent path across northern Warren before lifting near the Trumbull Country Club. 

The team made a preliminary determination that an EF1 tornado with wind speeds of 90 miles per hour and 150 yards wide traveled more than two miles in Cuyahoga County.

According to the NWS, the tornado traveled 13.41 miles, and the NWS service is reporting that there were no fatalities and no injuries reported. 

The Weather service says the brief, weak tornado touched down just east of the intersection of I-271 and I-480 near Oakwood at 3:23 pm Sunday.

The tornado uprooted/snapped several trees in the area and also caused damage to homes and businesses.
