Warren man accused of firing shots at drug agent

Posted: Updated:
WARREN, Ohio -

A Warren man is in the Trumbull County Jail, accused of firing shots at a drug task force officer in the city.

Twenty-five-year-old Dillon McCoy was booked into the jail early Wednesday on a charge of felonious assault.

According to a police report, several law enforcement agencies were called out after an officer reported that someone fired shots at a TAG Law Enforcement Drug Task Force officer in the parking lot of the Riverview Apartments on Buckeye Street NW shortly before 9:30 pm Tuesday.

Police, who believe the suspect ran behind the building down a ravine near the Mahoning River, began a search involving several law enforcement agencies and a K9 tracker.

McCoy was arrested later on Stiles Street NW near Parkman Road.

Investigators found a gun they believe was used in the incident near a gazebo in the area.

The report does not say why they believe the shots were fired. No one was injured.
