AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -

A “nervous” passenger in a car pulled over for a traffic violation led officers to a bag of cocaine, according to Austintown police.

An officer says a Chrysler 300 was pulled over after not using a turn signal at Potomac and Parkgate Avenues Tuesday afternoon.

Police say a passenger in the car, 18-year-old Adreawna Dixon, appeared to become nervous after being asked if there was any contraband in the vehicle.

According to the police report, Dixon avoided eye contact with the officer, and her hands and legs were shaking.

After the officer asked the car's occupants again about contraband, Dixon admitted having a bag of cocaine in her purse, according to police.

In addition to the cocaine, the officer says Dixon's purse contained three cut straws and a glass jar with some marijuana residue inside.

Dixon was booked into the Mahoning County jail on charges of drug abuse, marijuana possession, and drug paraphernalia possession.

She was scheduled to appear in court for arraignment on Wednesday where her bond was set at $3,000.

Dixon's next hearing is set for August 7.
