Boardman police say man had 20 $100 counterfeit bills

A South Carolina man has been arrested in Boardman following an OVI Checkpoint stop that uncovered counterfeit bills.

According to the reports, 23-year-old Trevoris Washington entered an OVI checkpoint on South Avenue around 12:15 a.m on Sunday.

Police say Washington was driving a rented car and had a strong odor of marijuana coming from it.

Officers asked the occupants to exit the car and found 20 counterfeit $100 bills on Washington.

According to the report, officers collected the counterfeit bills.

Police say a further investigation found that purchases were made with counterfeit bills in Niles, Ross Park, Eastwood and Youngstown.

Reports say that numerous shoes and clothing were found in the car and all items were paid for with cash.

Washington has been charged with counterfeiting and is being held in the Mahoning County Jail on $4,000 bond.
