CHARLESTON, W. Va. -

The person of interest in a double murder who was the subject of a search in Mercer County has been taken into custody by the United States Marshall Service and local authorities in West Virginia.

According to officials, Jack Elijah Turner was taken into custody after a local Crime Stoppers tip.

Turner is a person of interest in a Pennsylvania double murder.

Earlier on Wednesday morning, the St. Johns County Sherriff's Office reported that there were three sightings of Jack Elijah Turner in the St. Augustine, Florida area on Tuesday.

A tweet from the sheriff's public information office states that Turner should be considered armed and dangerous.

Turner is wanted for questioning in connection with Saturday's murder of 49-year-old Shannon Whitman and her ten-year-old son, whose bodies were found in their Randolph Township home in Crawford County.

An area-wide search for Turner included Sandy Lake in Mercer County on Monday.

Turner is not charged with the murders but is charged with stealing a car from the murder scene.  He is also wanted for the robbery of an Erie area gas station following the murders.
