Youngstown falls to Chinese Taipei in PONY League World Series

WASHINGTON, Pa. -

The Youngstown team's run in the PONY League World Series has come to an end following a 5-4 loss to Chinese Taipei, in the Division Championship game Wednesday evening. 

With the win, Chinese Taipei has clinched a spot in the PONY World Series Championship game. Youngstown has been eliminated from the bracket after their second loss of the week, both to Chinese Taipei. 

After each team scored a run via an error, Youngstown grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second inning on an Anthony Miller single. Miller played a significant role for Youngstown, going 3-4 at the plate, and striking five batters in his role as starting pitcher. 

After Chinese Taipei tied the game 2-2, Anthony Malagise hit a two-run home run to give Youngstown a 4-2 lead in the fourth. 

Chinese Taipei tied the game in the sixth inning before Sun, Yi Lei hit the final game-winning home run to right field in the top of the seventh.
