Four percent raise to wastewater rates proposed by Youngstown administration

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

An increase could be coming to Youngstown area wastewater bills.

According to Chairwoman of the financial committee and city council member Lauren McNally, the administration is recommending a four percent raise in wastewater rates for the next five years.

McNally says city council will vote on the proposal at their meeting next Wednesday.

She told 21 News that there are many reasons for the recommendation, with one being that the city is short $15 million.

McNally says this money will ensure the EPA money that the city needs.

According to McNally, the increase would only affect those living in the city of Youngstown.
