HANOVER TWP., Ohio - State troopers are investigating an accident in Columbiana County that claimed the life of a Malvern, Ohio man early Friday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 42-year-old Jason Hidey was driving a minivan along U.S. Route 30 at around 4:30 a.m. when it veered off the road and struck a tree just west of Route 9 near Kensington.

The minivan then struck a ditch and trees before turning over on an embankment.

The patrol says Hidey, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead at the scene.  There was no one else in the minivan.

The road was closed for about an hour.
