The U.S. Supreme Court has issued a decision overturning the landmark Roe Versus Wade decision that legalized abortion in the nation.

The ruling means that individual states will now have the final say as to the legality of abortions.

Ohio Republican Representative Mike Loychik is co-sponsoring an abortion-ban bill that would go into effect once Governor Mike DeWine signs it.

DeWine has indicated he would sign the bill which would make performing an abortion a fourth-degree felony. Even if a doctor deems an abortion necessary to save a woman's life, they would still be prosecuted but could use the life-or-death situation in the defense.

Democrat Representative Michele Lepore Hagan says she favors a constitutional amendment that would protect abortion rights.

Since the Republican Party controls the Ohio House and Senate, the GOP’s “trigger” abortion ban would likely be passed.

An early release of Justice Alito's draft opinion in the case caused an uproar from those favoring abortion rights, and those upset about the leaked documents.
