EAST PALESTINE, Ohio -

A local nonprofit organization is holding a drive-thru distribution event to help residents of East Palestine and surrounding communities.

The Brightside Project will host the event at East Palestine High School from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 4, for families affected by the Norfolk Southern train derailment.

Families living in East Palestine, Negley, Darlington, Unity and New Waterford are all eligible to attend but proof of residency is required.

Brightside Project members will hand out water, food, personal care items, new pillows for kids, nasal cleaning kits, air filters and more at the distribution. If you plan on getting a pillow for your child, you must bring their birth certificate.

“We are excited to travel to East Palestine on Saturday,” Lisa Wallace, Brightside Project co-director, said. “The community and the nation have really just been so kind to the people of East Palestine and we are humbled to be there during this time.”
