POLICE: Suspect flees after two-car crash in Girard sends one to - WFMJ.com News weather sports for Youngstown-Warren Ohio

GIRARD, Ohio -

One person has fled the scene of a crash in Girard that sent one person to the hospital according to police at the scene.

The accident occurred on Route 711 near the Gypsy Lane Exit around 10:30 am when police say a driver who was traveling northbound at a high rate of speed crashed into another car. Police say the driver who hit the car fled on foot.

At this point, police have not identified a suspect.

Police also tell 21 News one person has been taken to the hospital, but their condition and extent of their injuries are unknown at this time.

21 News crews at the scene observed a white SUV being removed from the scene as well as a blue Jeep with severe front end damage and air bags deployed. Police identified the Jeep (pictured below) as the suspect vehicle.

Both Girard Police and Fire Departments responded to the scene. Traffic is currently still moving at the scene.
