Five people have filed to finish out Rep. Bill Johnson's unexpired term as he steps down from his seat and become the next president of Youngstown State University.
The following candidates have filed to run for Johnson's seat:
- Rylan Z. Finzer of Bedford Heights- Democrat
- Michael L. Kripchak of Youngstown - Democrat
- Rep. Michael Rulli of Salem - Republican
- Rep. Reggie Stoltzfus of Minerva - Republican
- Rick Tsai of East Palestine - Republican
Johnson's unexpired term for the Sixth Congressional District ends on January 5, 2025.
He begins his presidency of the university Monday.
The Mahoning County Board of Elections will certify the filings on January 24.
