City of Hermitage to host cleanup event for Earth Day on Monday

Earth Day is right around the corner and the City of Hermitage is encouraging residents to do their part in helping the planet at its Earth Day Festival on Monday, April 22.

The festival will take place at the LindenPointe Innovative Business Campus (3580 Innovation Way) in Hermitage between noon and 5:00 p.m. with cleanup beginning at 9:00 a.m.

In addition to the cleanup and festival, there will be a free bluebird box workshop between 10:00 a.m. and noon. The workshop will be led by a PA Game Commission educator and is open to families with children between the ages of six and 12 years old.

During the workshop, families will learn about bluebirds, their nesting habits, predators, proper bluebird box placement and care and families can even build their own bluebird box to take home.

The festival itself will feature food waste digester tours, informational booths, eco-friendly vendors, food trucks, activities for kids and live entertainment.

- Noon to 2:00 p.m.: Ruby Mountain Music

- 2:00 p.m.: Poetry contest winner's poem reading

- 2:30 p.m.: Victoria Lingner Story Spinning

- 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.: Better Late Bluegrass
