Warren PD holds swearing in ceremony for five new officers

Posted: Updated:

On Monday, the Warren Police Department swore in five new officers.

David Beavers, Jacob McAlister, Tyler Morris, Nicholas Ritchie and Ethan Toot were all sworn in as entry level officers.

The police department has been on a hiring spree since late last year, and says they're always looking for the best candidates to serve the city.

"I have full confidence in these young men who have gone through a process," says the Mayor of Warren, Doug Franklin, "and I really believe that they'll serve with distinction in their new roles and contribute greatly to the self safety and wellbeing of our community."

The Warren Police Department has room for 70 officers.

According to Chief of Police Eric Merkel, they employ 64 officers as of now.
