PennDOT restores speed limit on most interstates in Mercer, Lawrence, other NW PA counties

OIL CITY, Pa. -

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has restored the speed limit on most interstates in the northwest region after speeds were temporarily reduced due to winter weather.

A temporary speed limit restriction to 45 mph was in place on the following highways:

  • Interstate 79 from Exit 113 (Route 208/258, Grove City) to the end of I-79 in Erie County.
  • Interstate 80 from the Ohio state line to Exit 120 (Route 879, Clearfield/Shawville) in Clearfield County.
  • Interstate 86 from the Interstate 90 interchange to the New York state line.
  • I-90 from the Ohio state line to the New York state line.
  • Interstate 376 from the I-80 interchange to Exit 2 (Route 18, West Middlesex). 

As of 11:20 a.m. Monday, speed limits have been restored on all interstates except for I-79 between Exit 147 (Route 6/322, Meadville) and Exit 166 (Route 6N, Albion/Edinboro).

PennDOT recommends not traveling during winter storms.
