Mahoning Valley -

Drug task forces in all three Mahoning Valley counties have received funding to help combat drug trafficking in their local communities.

This funding is part of $2.2 million in RecoveryOhio Funding awarded to 34 Ohio drug task forces to help identify high-level drug traffickers, dismantle large drug trafficking organizations, interrupt the flow of money and drugs from international cartels and prevent the sale of illegal drugs.

Locally, the Mahoning and Trumbull County Sheriff's Offices received $30,000 each and the Columbiana County Sheriff's Office received $142,248.88.

"This grant program helps local law enforcement stop drug traffickers and prevent drug dependence using a two-pronged approach. Not only do they work to stem the flow of drugs, but they're also helping citizens with prevention and recovery support," said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine.

The RecoveryOhio program is administered by the Ohio Office of Criminal Justice Services.
