LISBON, Ohio - An East Liverpool man is scheduled to go on trial this summer after police say his SUV struck and killed a 76-year-old man as he was trying to cross the street more than two years ago.
Sixty-nine-year-old Paul Vojnovich pleaded “not guilty” earlier to one misdemeanor count of vehicular homicide in connection with the April 7, 2023, accident.
Police say a Jeep Compass struck James Schmitt near his St. Clair Avenue home.
The police report says Vojnovich told officers he didn’t see Schmitt.
The trial is scheduled for August 13 before Municipal Court Judge Timothy McNichol.
