LISBON, Ohio -

A Columbiana County Grand Jury has handed up a four-count felony indictment against a man in connection with an April shooting in Wellsville, including charges more serious than those initially filed in lower court.

E'Mory Chiles, 20, of Wellsville, was indicted on charges of attempted murder with a firearm specification, felonious assault with a firearm specification, tampering with evidence, and inducing panic.

The inclusion of a "firearm specification" on both the attempted murder and felonious assault charges indicates that if Chiles is convicted, an additional, mandatory prison term would be added to the sentence for those offenses. This specification typically signifies that a firearm was used in the commission of the crime, triggering enhanced penalties under Ohio law.

The charges stem from an April incident where a male juvenile was shot in the wrist along 18th Street near Nicholson Alley.

Chiles remains held in the Columbiana County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
