YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -

Two local kids honored their late aunt with another year of raising money for a good cause.

Annalise and Jordan started Aunt Mimi's Lemonade Stand in honor of Girard High School graduate Amy Marie Kenyon Bowman, who died in July 2022 at the age of 47.

A different cause is picked each year with all proceeds benefitting it. In the past, the lemonade stand has benefitted the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, the Melina Michelle Edenfield Foundation and Veterans Outreach.

This year, the kids picked "Vested Interest in K9s," a non-profit that provides protective vests to K9 officers.

The lemonade stand raised a total of $7,224 to provide 13 vests to local police dogs.

Departments getting protective vests include:

  • Youngstown Police Department - 4
  • Struthers Police Department - 2
  • Boardman Police Department - 2
  • Beaver Township Police Department - 1
  • Springfield Township Police Department - 1
  • YSU Police Department - 1
  • Mahoning County Sheriff's Office - 1
  • Trumbull County Sheriff's Office - 1

Annalise and Jordan hope Aunt Mimi's Lemonade Stand will benefit mental health and suicide awareness in 2026.
