YOUNGSTOWN - Youngstown is preparing for a weekend of events that acknowledge its history, creative efforts, and entertainment options. The Youngstown Warren Chamber of Commerce has provided a list of these upcoming activities.

On Friday, June 27, Penguin City Brewing Company will host “Happy Birthday Youngstown!” at 5 p.m. The event, a collaboration with the Mahoning Valley Historical Society and Youngstown CityScape, will include a community gathering. As part of the event, Penguin City will introduce Renner Old Bavaria, a revived brew from Renner Brewing, which was Youngstown’s initial brewery. This offering is part of a new partnership with the Renner family.

Also Friday evening, Students Motivated by the Arts (SMARTS) will conduct a fundraiser in honor of Joy White, a former SMARTS Circle member. The event at the Ohio One Building, 25 E. Boardman St., will feature live music, art demonstrations and an auction of works by local and regional artists.

A VIP preview party is scheduled from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by the main event from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $55 for VIP access and $30 for general admission. Proceeds will support SMARTS. Additional details and ticket purchases are available at smartsartschool.org/jos25.

On Saturday, June 28, The Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre, 201 S. Phelps St., will host the "I Want My 80s Tour" at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature performances by Rick Springfield, John Waite, Wang Chung and Paul Young. Ticket prices range from $45 to $135 and can be acquired through Ticketmaster.com and the Southwoods Health Box Office.

The weekend concludes on Monday, June 30, with the return of the Youngstown Summer Movie Series at Wean Park. A free screening of "Iron Man" (2008) is scheduled for 9 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. If rain occurs, the screening will be held the following evening at the same time.
