Free classic film series to be shown in New Castle, starting August 7

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -

The Historic Warner Cascase Theatre Museum, located at 11 South Mill Street in New Castle, Pennsylvania, announced a classic film series in a news release on Tuesday.

The series, curated by Board Member Jay French, aims to create a historically inspired movie-going experience. All showings are free.

The movie showing includes cartoons, short subjects and other features.

Parking is available downtown in New Castle, unless a space is indicated as reserved.

The series consists of five movie features, and interested attendees are encouraged to come early.

Dates, times and movies being played were announced in the release as follows:

  • August 7: At noon and 7 p.m., "The Greatest Show On Earth" will be played. Actors featured in the film include Charlton Heston, Betty Hutton and James Stewart.
  • August 21: At noon and 7 a.m., "Rain" will be played. Actors featured in the film include Joan Crawford, Walter Huston and William Gargan.
  • September 4: At noon and 7 p.m., "Nothing Sacred" will be played. Actors featured in the film include Carole Lombard and Fredric March.
  • September 18: At noon and 7 p.m., "The Cocoanuts" will be played. Actors featured in the film include the Marx Brothers.
  • October 2: At noon and 7 p.m., "Meet John Doe" will be played. Actors featured in the film include Gary Cooper, Barbara Stanwyck and Walter Brennan.

A poster listing all of the movie posters, showtimes and dates was included in the release.
