LISBON A project in Lisbon aims to resurface a section of the downtown area.
According to a Facebook post from Lisbon Mayor Peter Wilson, the $74,000 repaving project targets the downtown squares of Lisbon.
Resurfacing work is being conducted by R&R Paving.
The resurfacing work began on Monday, where Park Avenue, parts of Nelson Street and the alley behind Youngstown Cycle and Speed were milled before asphalt was laid.
A parking ban has been in place for the area since Monday to allow crews to work. The ban is expected to be lifted at 10 p.m. on Wednesday.
Work is expected to be completed on Wednesday.
Mayor Wilson told 21 News that the downtown square is getting its first resurfacing in more than two decades.
A picture of some of the resurfaced roads was shared with 21 News by Mayor Wilson.
The money for the project comes from the Village's Capital Expenditures Fund, according to the Facebook post.
The Capital Expenditures Fund was created after the mortgage on the Village Hall was paid off. Additionally, the fund receives a small percentage of tax revenue.
The money in the fund is used for projects that have a lifespan of five or more years, according to the post.
