DermaRite Industries LLC has issued a voluntary recall of several hand soap products due to the risk of life-threatening sepsis.

The recall involves several DermaRite soap products including DermaKleen, DermaSarra, KleenFoam and PeriGiene that were distributed across the United States and Puerto Rico.

A complete list of products affected by the recall can be found here.

According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recalled products were contaminated with Burkholderia cepacia, which could result in serious, potentially life-threatening infections.

While use of the products by healthy individuals with minor skin lesions may only result in local infections, use of the product by immunocompromised individuals could cause the infection to spread into the bloodstream, potentially leading to life-threatening sepsis.

As of this writing, no adverse health effects stemming from the recalled products were reported. If you are experiencing adverse health effects from a recalled product, you're asked to contact your physician immediately.

You can report any illnesses or injuries related to the recalled products by clicking here.
