YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown State University has partnered up with the Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA) to offer a brand-new method of transportation for students.
Starting in the fall 2025 semester, students, staff and visitors can take the Red and White Loop shuttles Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters.
The service will consist of two routes that run in continuous 16-minute loops.
The Red Loop travels clockwise from Federal Station through key campus corridors like Wood Street, Fifth Avenue, Wick Avenue and more. The White Loop runs counterclockwise along Commerce Street, Lincoln Avenue, Madison Avenue and other central areas.
Both routes are absolutely free, and no YSU ID is required to use the service.
"This dedicated shuttle service is designed to make travel easier for students, faculty and guests - both around campus and throughout the greater Youngstown area," said WRTA CEO Dean Harris.
Additionally, riders can track shuttle locations and receive live updates via the myStop app, which also provides access to WRTA's full network of city routes.
"This is an important initiative that the [Student Government Association] had been working toward for a while, and we are very proud to have accomplished the goal of tracking our Penguin Shuttles and getting our student transportation on track," said YSU Student Government Association President Sofie Myers.
You can view the shuttle routes and download the myStop app via the WRTA website.
